Software engineer, freelance developer (Tekartik)

Alexandre Roux

I am Alexandre Roux, a software engineer (INSA Lyon, 1995) working as a freelance developer under the name Tekartik since 2009, based in the Gard, in the south of France. I build mobile, web and cloud applications in Flutter and Dart, with Firebase, and I publish as open source the building blocks I use every day.

  • What I do: Android, iOS, web and desktop apps for companies and events, from the first mock-up to production, with their backend (Cloud Functions, Firestore, security rules) and their tooling (CI, tests, deployment). On my own or inside a team, remote or on site.
  • What I did: ten years at Smartcode and then Palm (France and Sunnyvale), writing and leading the development of the applications shipped in Palm OS, then fifteen years of mobile development as a freelancer, from Java on Android and Objective-C to today's Flutter apps.
  • Open source: the author of sqflite, the SQLite plugin of Flutter, and of sembast, idb_shim, synchronized, process_run and fs_shim. About a hundred public repositories, over 4,600 GitHub stars and 23 million downloads a month on pub.dev.
  • Recent references: Hublot's connected watches (Wear OS, Android, a backend served in Europe and in China), Novostable's live video of horses in their stables, Aisprid's greenhouse leaf-stripping robots, A2K Technologies' brand activations (Coca-Cola, JD Sports, Costa Coffee, Decathlon × Disneyland) up to the giant quiz on Place de la Concorde for the 2023 Rugby World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games.
  • Also: the festenao platform and the youpi.app family of apps (Chordelio, Buzzerelio, Sondelio, Playelio), festival web apps, jaspr sites. Fluent English, three years in the United States.
